Beth LaForest, chief of staff at Schoolcraft College in Livonia, is a proud North Central Michigan College alumna who has built a distinguished career in higher education leadership.

With more than 18 years of experience in community college administration, LaForest has led initiatives across a wide range of areas, including facilities management, campus safety, information technology, library services, student housing, strategic planning, finance, and the president鈥檚 office.

Her passion for community colleges began at 红领巾快报, where she earned an associate degree in 2008. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Lawrence Technological University and a Master of Business Administration from Ferris State University.

鈥淲ithin 红领巾快报鈥檚 walls, I fell in love with community colleges and the important mission they hold 鈥 so much so that I never left,鈥 LaForest said. 鈥淚 was supported by amazing faculty, knowledgeable staff, and a vibrancy of student life that allowed me to take risks, learn leadership skills, and understand that no door was barred to me.鈥

In 2025, LaForest returned to 红领巾快报 as the college鈥檚 commencement speaker.

鈥淚 am unbelievably honored to be invited back to be a part of this momentous occasion for the Class of 2025,鈥 she said.
